Recent Godley high school grad killed in ATV crash near Granbury

The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating a fatality accident that occurred during the overnight hours of Saturday, July 10th.

The victim has been publicly identified as Payton Herman, a recent graduate of Godley High School. Godley ISD published a post on their Facebook page as a remembrance.

“We are heartbroken to hear of the passing of one of our 2021 Godley High School graduates, Payton Herman,” the Godley ISD Facebook post said. “We are so thankful for the opportunity to have had Payton as part of our Wildcat family. While we know the entire Godley community is grieving this tragic loss, please keep the Herman family especially close in your thoughts and prayers during this time.”
Godley high grad killed Granbury

DPS said that around 1:20am on Saturday morning, multiple emergency responders were called to the scene of an all terrain vehicle crash along Bolton Road near Farm to Market Road 51 (Weatherford Highway) just north of Granbury.

DPS troopers say a 2017 utility vehicle was traveling along Bolton Road when the driver crashed off the road and into a fence.

The driver, identified as a 21-year-old man from Granbury, and two sibling passengers, 18-year-old Payton Herman and a 21-year-old woman. The passengers who were originally reported as seriously injured, were ejected in the crash and seriously injured. Payton Herman was pronounced deceased yesterday (Sunday) afternoon after being airlifted to JPS Hospital in Fort Worth. The 21-year-old woman sustained serious injuries. The driver was also injured, but unknown severity.
