Each year, the Town of Addison provides grants to various non-profit agencies, the Town of Addison said.
At the October 10 Council meeting, which was the first one in the new fiscal year, the Addison Council approved grant agreements with the following non-profit agencies:
Addison Arbor Foundation: $47,500
The Addison Arbor Foundation (AAF) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with a mission to promote and enhance natural environments within the Town of Addison through landscaping, public art and education.
WaterTower Theatre: $445,000
Founded in 1996, WaterTower Theatre (WTT) is one of Texas’ leading professional theatre companies and one of the flagship arts institutions in North Texas, having played an important role as a leader in developing new talent and encouraging the growth of the DFW artistic community through its commitment to hiring local artists.
LaunchAbility: $2,500
LaunchAbility is a job-placement service for underserved and overlooked adults with cognitive disabilities. Men and women with Autism, Down Syndrome, stroke and significant learning disabilities who not only desire to join the workforce but, with guidance and training, are more than able to do so. Our training and placement services give careers, confidence and independence to clients who would otherwise be solely dependent on their families or social services.
The Family Place: $12,000
The Family Place empowers victims of family violence by providing safe housing, counseling and skills t
hat create independence while building community engagement and advocating for social change to stop family violence.
Metrocrest Services: $61,000
Metrocrest Services said that their focus is assisting families, individuals, and senior adults who are coping with crisis situations, need help stabilizing their lives, or who require support to live independently. Basic services include rent and utility bill aid, financial and budgeting assistance and food. We also provide employment counseling along with gas cards or bus vouchers for job-seekers and transportation, minor home repairs, and home-delivered meals benefit seniors. Seasonal distributions including school shoes and supplies for students, Sack Summer Hunger food for youngsters, and November and December holiday programs.
Metrocrest Community Clinic: $5,000
In 1992, the Clinic began as a 501(c)(3) non-profit agency named “On Eagles Wings” and was started by the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church and the Webb Chapel United Methodist Church. The Clinic was operated for many years as the Metrocrest Family Medical Clinic. At the outset, the Clinic provided only evening appointments with an all-volunteer medical staff. As demand for services increased, morning, afternoon, and weekend clinics were added to the schedule.
Metrocrest Chamber of Commerce: $35,000
The purpose of the Metrocrest Chamber of Commerce is to create economic prosperity for our members by providing programs, resources, and support that assist and benefit business, government and citizens resulting in a vibrant place to live and work.
World Affairs Council: $60,000
The World Affairs Council of Dallas/Fort Worth is a dynamic organization that brings international awareness and cross-cultural understanding to the North Texas community and presents distinguished international figures year-round for in-depth interpretations of global events.
