The town of Addison recently said that they completed an employee classification, compensation, and certification pay study. the results of the results were shared with Council at a special meeting on Friday, December 15.
The town of Addison said the last compensation study was completed by the Town was in 2013. The new study indicated that salaries for Addison’s firefighter/paramedics are 10% behind the market and police officers are 7% behind.
The town of Addison said that Civilian salaries are also lagging, with nearly one-third of the job titles reviewed falling 10% behind the market.
Employee compensation policy approved
Council approved an amended employee compensation policy this summer that, among other things, stated the Council’s desire to pay employees “better than the average of our comparison cities.”
Cost options were presented
The Town of Addison said that in order to achieve that goal, staff presented three cost options to address the results of the recent study. The Council chose to adopt a 1% above market recommendation that will be phased in over several years beginning January 2018.
