Personal Transportation Vehicles may be coming soon to Addison

The Town of Addison Council staff presented a draft ordinance to the Council during the March 12 Work Session that would group bicycles, scooters and similar vehicles under a new term called “Personal Transport Vehicles” (PTVs).

The ordinance would require that any company who wants to offer PTVs for rent in Addison obtain a permit.

Council provided feedback on the pilot program that would end on December 31, 2019. Staff will incorporate those changes and bring the item back for discussion and possible action at a future meeting.

During a work session on November 27th, 2018; the City Council discussed potential regulations for bike-sharing and scooter-sharing companies operating in the Right-of-Way and on Town properties such as parks and trails. Based on the discussion, Council directed staff to develop a pilot program with similar requirements to those currently being utilized by the City of Plano.
