(Addison, TX) – The Rotary Club of Addison (RCA) held its 38th installation ceremony Tuesday night at Lawry’s in its annual function of changing leaders.
RCA bid farewell to outgoing President Mike Ray, who led the club through the pandemic.
“Leading this club through the COVID pandemic was a monumental challenge, yet our members continued to take action in areas of community need,” said Ray. “
Addison Rotarians stepped up when needed most.
Addison Rotarian’s examples of community service include, working with Metrocrest Food Pantry to make sure hundreds of families enjoyed a measure of food security during the height of the pandemic. Addison Rotarians prepared over 400 personal care kits for homeless veterans through collaborating with American Legion Post 802. They also raised over $170,000 for Ronald McDonald House of Dallas in September.
“Serving as President of this club has truly been the honor of a lifetime,” concluded Ray.
Diane Fullingim sworn in as 38th President of Rotary Club of Addison
Diane Fullingim was sworn in as RCA’s 38th President, succeeding Ray. In her remarks to the Club, she stated a primary goal of her term is using the Club’s service history to drive new volunteer opportunities and new membership. “With the increased numbers of people now able to work from home with greater flexibility in their schedules, let us strive to promote Rotary’s core principle of service above self through our many service projects, ‘ said Fullingim.
John Gilchrist installed as President Elect
John Gilchrist was installed as President-Elect. Gilchrist has been a Rotarian for over 20 years. “What drew me to Addison Rotary was the genuine feelings of admiration and respect club members have for each other – and for the warm reception extended to visitors. This club goes above and beyond to welcome newcomers,” said Gilchrist.
RCA meets Friday mornings at Lawry’s The Prime Rib on Dallas Parkway at 7:30 a.m. Programs feature a wide variety of speakers to educate, inform, and entertain members and guests. All persons are welcome any Friday.
Due to the installation banquet and upcoming Independence Day holiday there will be no meeting on Friday, June 25 and Friday, July 2. Regular meetings resume on Friday, July 9.
